Small antique French confit pot with yellow glaze
Beautiful small antique French confit pot, traditional to Provence and dating to the late 19thc/early 20thc.
While the largest pots were used for preserving and storing meat through the winter, this rare, miniature pot would most likely have been used for keeping salt. It is the smallest size we’ve come across, at only 6 inches / 15cm high.
Hand made in terracotta, it is part glazed in ocher/yellow and is remarkably well preserved with normal signs of wear from many decades of use.
