Antique silver sewing set with etui, c1900
An antique French sewing set from around c1900.
This set comprises a needle case with needles, a thick awl, lace hook, a pair of scissors and a thimble.
The needle case, awl, and lace hook are in repoussé silver with tiny French hallmarks. The thimble and steel scissors are later additions to the set. The etui is covered with shagreen-coloured paper, and lined with cream velvet and silk. The box closes with two little hinges on the either side.
A charming set in good condition. The thimble has a little dent and a hole (ouch!) Age spots visible in the velvet lining, some wear to the outside of the box.
