Hammered copper cauldron with lid, dovetails, 19thc
A large French hammered copper cauldron from the late 19th century. It has a heavy forged cast iron handle, rivets, and a snug-fitting lid with a decorative handle. The rounded bottom shows the dovetail construction..
This lovely old item was used to serve farm meals and so the inside was brushed with tin, though now of course the tin coating has worn thin.
